IN THIS LESSON, YOU WILL LEARN HOW TO USE MODULES TO ESTABLISH CLEAR EXPECTATIONS AND CREATE A SUSTAINABLE ROUTINE

Modules are independent units that make up a course structure.

Each of the boxes below is a unit that contains information and resources. Modules help you organize the content of your course, making it easy for students to find the content they need when they need it.

For example, if you open the module for week two, you will see a list of lessons, assignments, and resources that will guide your students through the week. You certainly do not have to organize your modules based on weekly assignments. You can arrange them according to topics or other categories. The weekly structure was simply helpful to me, because it helped me align resources according to the lessons of that week.

Use Modules to Establish a Routine

Modules are also a great tool for communication, because you can use them to create consistency in your course structure. If you include the same pattern of information in every module, students will know what to expect when they open the next unit.

It also helps to have a clear introduction and conclusion for every module that contains sequential learning material. For example, the introduction could contain the topic or theme of the week and a brief explanation about the lessons and assignments.

As you use modules to structure your course, remember that your organization helps your students to stay organized, too.
